A little bit of history

Originally, clogs were used by workers in factories to protect their feet from heavy falling objects, or by farmers as protective footwear isolating their feet from the cold or wet soil. Traditionally, they where made out of wood and contrary to the usual association of clogs with the Nordic countries, they where worn all over Europe.

Nowadays these wooden shoes are still worn as traditional folk dressing in places like the Netherlands and Sweden. However, the modern western versions like the Dansko clogs, come in a huge variety of shapes and constructions and are more fashion oriented.

Dansko clogs started as a husband and wife business in the 90's when they brought back some clogs, from Denmark, as gifts for friends and family. What they discovered was that they were very comfortable and everybody loved them. So, they decided to create a shoe store.

From there they kept expanding their line with comfort and style as their main focuses. Today they have a huge variety of shapes and colors, all sorts of treated leather and fabric for the tops, and a wide choice of comfortable ergonomic soles.

Dansko clogs are well known for their quality and comfort. However, you have to have in mind when ordering, that you'll need to buy a half size bigger than your regular size shoe for a comfortable fit. That's where it can get a little tricky because their size conversion from the Euro to US is on the small side. 

I'm US size 8 and according to their chart my Euro size would be 38. However, many other manufactures have the Us size 8 converted to Euro size 39.

So, if you order them two sizes bigger than what their conversion chart is telling you to, you should be fine. In my case, their chart tells me that I'm Euro size 38 so I get them Euro size 40, which accounts for the difference in the conversion and the half size increase that makes for a good clog fit. But don't worry, the shipping is free both ways, so if you have any size problems you can always exchange at no extra cost.
